Starting Point "Growing Up with Media"
Digital media offer children and youths the opportunity to discover and unfold their talents. Parents and experts in day-care centres and schools etc. ought to accompany them on their way into the digital world. The Starting Point "Growing Up with Media" offers information and practical help for matters of children’s media usage and media education.
The Federal Ministry for Families, Senior Citizens, Women and Youths funds the project in order to support the joint action of the federal state, the individual states, municipalities, funders and federations as well as enterprises in their approaches for growing up with media and developing the general framework for Germany. Thus, media educational work for children and youths is supported and further counselling and networking opportunities for experts, volunteers and multipliers are developed.
Role of the Digital Opportunities Foundation
The Starting Point has been built up by the Digital Opportunities Foundation and offers information, counselling and networking.
Focus offers:
- Pooling of information, materials, best practice projects
- Professional support of local networks for media literacy
- Online-conferences for multipliers, experts and volunteers
